Kobbie Mainoo and an England worldwide are wanted for a midfield partnership at Manchester United.

The Red Devils are up and running the transfer glass, now. Joshua Zirkzee, who went to Euro 2024 with the Netherlands, has signed for Manchester United, despite having qualified for the Champions League with Bologna next term.

There could be bigger titles, however, too. Matthijs De Ligt is rumoured – and now another England star may remain sought out to mate Kobbie Mainoo in midfield.

CaughtOffside says that Adam Wharton is on United's sensor, having just signed for Crystal Palace in January. Due to that, the midfielder was at Blackburn Rovers.

Mainoo has been a midfield foundation since emerging from the United university but has n't found a regular companion alongside him. Casemiro is expected to leave the team this summers, but Scott McTominay, Christian Eriksen, and other players have been key roles in the teenager's development over the past year or so.

Wharton, nevertheless, may be the solution. A educated left-footer capable of operating box-to-box, the 20-year-old is only just older than Mainoo and could enhance his England colleague well, as the Red Devils seem to develop a strong foundation for the next decade.

While Mainoo set a document as England's youngest-ever winner at a big event yesterday, Wharton was one of an unhappy bunch of stars who failed to get onto the pitch at the game at all. He remains on just the one helmet, having made his international debut as a substitute on June 3 during the 3–0 win against Bosnia and Herzegovina.

CaughtOffside's report claims that Wharton may only be an option, anyway. Joao Neves is believed to be the No. 1 goal but his businesses, Benfica, are never budging on their needs. A discharge clause of about €120 million is in place for the Portuguese conman.

Palace sun Wharton, however, may be half the price. Though it may look like a knee-jerk signing, capitalising on only a few months of good form, in DataVictory's opinion, Wharton would make an excellent partner for Mainoo and this could be a sensible option to sign in the event that Neves ca n't be bought.

The Eagles may be hesitant to do business with another of their future stars because Wharton has essentially just really signed at Selhurst Park and Michael Olise has already left this summer. This one might also be dead in the water before it's got going, given that Palace carry all the tickets, around.

Wharton is for €30m, according to Transfermarkt. His commitment runs until 2029.
