Joey Barton, a former winger for Newcastle United and Manchester City, has apologized and agreed to pay significant damage for his libellous tweets.
After a High Court judge found that the original midfielder had made disparaging remarks about the journalist on social advertising, Joey Barton has apologised and is required to pay Jeremy Vine at least £75, 000 plus expenses.
Vine has stated that the dispute is not over because only half of the messages Vine's lawsuit against the original Manchester City person were resolved in the settlement.
Vine's private life and his social views were the subject of numerous vile and false accusations that the judge found to be libellous earlier this year. Barton had called Vine a' vehicle nonce' and ' pedo goalkeeper'.
Jeremy Vine: Joey Barton set to pay additional injuries beyond £75, 000
Barton wrote in his open explanation:" Between 8 and 12 January 2024 I published 11 messages which accused Jeremy Vine of having a physical interest in children, and created a tweet which made the same claims, which were viewed millions of times.
" I recognise that this is a pretty serious incident. It is unfounded. I want to clarify Mr. Vine's sexual orientation, but I do n't think so.
Based on a video clip from his TV show, I likewise published posts during the same time that made reference to Mr. Vine's advocacy for forced immunization during the Covid 19 crisis.
I understand that he did not support this plan and that the video clip was edited to misinterpret what he was actually saying.
I therefore insulted and abused Mr. Vine by filing a lawsuit against him. I've agreed to stop making the similar claims against Mr. Vine, and I'm writing my own apology for his suffering.
" To solve his claims against me in libel and intimidation, I have agreed to pay Mr Vine £75, 000 in problems and his constitutional costs."

Vine added more perspective to the position in a statement that was made available on X, saying that the case's ultimate outcome does not include Joey Barton's explanation and commitment to pay damages and costs.
" After five disparaging comments, my attorney offered Barton a chance to live: give £75k, plus my expenses, and make an apology.
" He turned down that sell, tweeting yet my home address to his followers, and doing it again."
A judge decided that Eight of the tweets I complained about were slanderous when I brought my case before the High Court. After losing, Barton has accepted the offer we made following statement 5.
" Barton will be held responsible for the additional harm caused by the parallel actions that occurred on comments 6 and 10 ." Barton has agreed to pay my legal fees for all of the states, including claims made in court as a form of explanation.
The legal wrong of defaming is one that results in severe social harm.
Barton's member countered that his comments were reflective of his "posting in the heat of the moment" and that some of them were an "obvious attempt at humor abuse" and that Vine's barrister had called them" calculated and sustained attacks on Mr. Vine."
