Joao Felix's signing by Chelsea seems to be more than simply adding another striking choice.
Joao Felix's filing is expected to be confirmed by Chelsea, who will also add another well-known player to their ever-expanding crew. And the transfer's apparent justification will only add more slack to the club's some critics.
Conor Gallagher, despite his effect at Stamford Bridge next year, is on the verge of a move in the same way, with a five-year cope at Atletico Madrid agreed. That transfer had been in fear after a proposed package for Chelsea to mark Atletico forward Samu Omorodion fell through.
The Spanish league apparently needed more funds to move forward with the drafting of Gallagher, having spent £81. 5 million on Julian Alvarez from Manchester City. Gallagher's move would have been made easier by selling Omorodion to Chelsea.
But Chelsea, evidently determined to offer their English midfielder and get the true profit on offer, have now gone in for a unique Atletico player: Felix. While Felix could well be a powerful addition- he showed glimpses of his superior during his product spell at Stamford Bridge in 2023- supporters may baulk at the idea of transfer business that seems to be an attempt to manipulate Profit and Sustainability Rules.
Chelsea are, of course, never short of adversaries too. Pedro Neto arrived from Wolves earlier this month and the likes of Cole Palmer, Christopher Nkunku, Mykhailo Mudryk, Noni Madueke and Raheem Sterling are among Enzo Maresca’s attacking alternatives.
There has been an obvious reaction to a drafting that seems useless. Jamie Carragher, speaking on Sky Sports ’ Monday Night Football, said:" Chelsea have simply got to stop buying people, and people have got to prevent signing for Chelsea. If I was a player, I'd think'why had I mark? '.
" The sole reason you do sign is because your agent may suggest ,'we're getting a seven-year package on great wealth, that's guaranteed income for seven times.
You are aware of my words, do n't you? Again yourself, sign a four-year offer at a right club. When you're due for renewal, your income goes up anyhow.
" It's never a fresh and exciting team. They've bought Joao Felix, where's he going to play? They signed Pedro Neto a week ago, where's he going to play when you've got Cole Palmer now? ”
