Graeme Souness, usually, pulled no blows in his condemnation of one of the Premier League's biggest labels
Bruno Fernandes, a Manchester United captain, is an example of contemporary captains who "tend to conceal" during tests, according to Graeme Souness. The Liverpool legend does n't expect the Portuguese playmaker to change, however.
Appearing on William Hill's Three Up Front radio, Souness questioned Fernandes ' approach as captain. When things did n't go his way or Manchester United's way, he was particularly critical of his upbeat reactions.
Before the previous time, Harry Maguire took the bracelet, and manager Erik ten Hag gave the 29-year-old the armband. His captain immediately came under scrutiny, while, amid a rough start to the plan for the Red Devils.
One of the biggest organizations in earth sports, Manchester United, is one of the best examples of leaders in the modern game, Souness said of the 71-cap Portugal worldwide. The team captain is Bruno Fernandes.
" When they were 3-0 down against England a couple of months ago]a game United went on to reduce 7-0], he merely threw the handkerchief in… he's the captain! If something, he should still be contributing, running around with joy and helping his friends.
" I believe that officials in contemporary gaming have a tendency to secrecy. They do n't want to reveal their identities, be held accountable, or accept responsibility.
But Souness does n't see Fernandes sacrificing that aspect of his game. He concluded:
" I do n't think ]he ] can change that aspect of himself – it's part of him. When he's shrugging his shoulders and throwing his arms about, that's really him".
Right now, it does n't seem like Ten Hag has any plans to change his captain again. As for, Fernandes might not have heard the last of the renowned withering Scot's censure...
