As England struggled to a 1-1 bring against Denmark at Euro 2024, co-commentator Alan Shearer sounded like he was about to blow.
As England wasted their Euro 2024 lead against Denmark, former England striker Alan Shearer could n't hide his outrage, prompting commentator Guy Mowbray to say," I do n't know tonight whether to buy you a drink, give you a hug, or buy you some blood pressure tablets.
England instantly looked a much worse edge than they did in the opening game, which Gareth Southgate's side had led early on, which gave them the lead.
After a number of appealing plays went flat, Southgate had to remove second Trent Alexander- Arnold with Conor Gallagher in middle shortly after the split, and then make a triple substitute halfway through the second half to replace his top trio of Harry Kane, Phil Foden, and Bukayo Saka with Ollie Watkins, Eberechi Eze, and Jarrod Bowen.
Alan Shearer:" Gareth Southgate may be asked major questions"
As it became clear that the result was not going to be restored, and that England's efforts both on and off the game were subject to criticism, BBC columnist Shearer became extremely critical of the efficiency.
He said after one Danish counter- attack:" Once they've ( England ) gone to press…Bellingham pressed, Watkins pressed, but the midfield are starting 20 yards behind them, and that ]says ] to me they just have n't worked on the press at all.
" If you're going to do it, you've got to do it all up. You ca n't do it in twos or threes because you'll get picked off, especially at this level."
Shearer continued," You can talk about the stress, the energy, and everything else; their passing has n't been good enough either." There's been far too numerous moves gone wrong, just passes. Do n't look at me and say the pitch is bobbly."
As the game drew towards a close, Shearer wrapped upward:" It's been an awful effectiveness, particularly after going up in the game … I'm never sure there's a England person who I can look at and say' yeah, they've been on it now'. They have n't. Caught on the ball, too many sloppy passes, certainly not enough energy.
" [Southgate ] will be asked serious questions and he'll understand that when you look at the players out there," he said." We were looking for an improvement from the first game and it's been worse.
The Bayern Munich striker equaled England's record for most goals in a row at the same tournament as the much-too-relax Victor Kristiansen, who was defeated by Kyle Walker with an overhit through ball to put the team ahead 18 minutes later.
However, England did not escape pressing on with an unforced effort after opening the scoring with a 25-yard off-post strike from Morten Hjulmand.
England are still in good shape, but they only have four points from their first two games before facing Slovenia on Tuesday night, making it clear that England are qualified.
