As Arne Slot's trend kicks off, Liverpool are set to mark one of the Euro 2024 stars.
This summer's transfer market has been silent at Liverpool. The Red are currently preparing to make their initial filing under new manager Arne Slot.
After about nine times of Jurgen Klopp's rule, Slot arrives at Anfield and transforms Merseyside. With the beloved German reshaping the squad last season, however, there is n't the need for wide-scale changes to the side that Slot's inherited.
The Dutchman has n't yet identified his own targets, though. The second man through the doorway may be inevitable, with the period beginning next week.
The Martin Zubimendi story has been linked to Anfield, according to Basque outlet Noticias de Gipuzkoa, which has a fascinating new twist. Obviously, Liverpool are ready to cause his release provision of around £50 million.
What's more, the True Sociedad controller is officially open to the move himself. Liverpool's journey to signing Zubimendi might be fairly straightforward because La Liga rules allow buyers to negotiate with sellers before triggering these launch clauses.
" Liverpool are really coming for Martín Zubimendi and everything seems to suggest that, unless the player changes his mind, their rude may become successful", the document confirms. " Everything seems to imply that Zubimendi has fallen for the beauties of the Red and that he may follow in the footsteps of the person who has always been his hero, Xabi Alonso".
In DataVictory's perspective, this seems a very compelling offer. There was, however, become a snag.
Arsenal have agreed words with Mikel Merino away of submitting an offer to La Real. It's believed that the move is a simple formality, with some solutions stating the transfer is all but' specific' to be completed.
The Zubimendi offer is intimately linked. Given that the original Newcastle player's deal expires next summer, Merino has a release clause of around £55 million, with Arsenal looking to give the other half.
But Liverpool does have a better chance of catching up with Arsenal by signing Merino on the low, thereby preventing them from concluding a deal and allowing them to link up Zubimendi by triggering a release clause. Likewise, Arsenal might conquer Liverpool to the blow.
The Reds would n't have much of an issue with that, unless Zubimendi felt a certain degree of loyalty to his hometown team and did n't want to leave them because Merino had already left. Of course, it's possible that England and Zubimendi's attention has been slightly inflated as a way to pressure Arsenal into a hurry up their Merino deal. In which case, the move may not be as near as it seems.
Zubimendi is valued at €50m by Transfermarkt. His deal runs out in 2027.
