The FA's seek for Gareth Southgate's leader as England director is underway
The FA are stepping up their hunt for Gareth Southgate's son as England boss, following the 53-year-old resignation on Tuesday.
Following England's defeat in the Euro 2024 last in less than 48 hours, Southgate announced that he would end his eight-year reign as Three Lions manager on Tuesday. England has reached the semi-finals and quarter-finals of the World Cup as well as two German Championship playoffs during this span.
Southgate, who came to England with his first prize since the 1966 World Cup, is much better than he did when he first started the absurd Sam Allardyce 'era' and a degrading Euro 2016 return against Iceland, where he inherited it in 2016.
Whoever accepts the position will gain a part that has grown accustomed to hosting competitive matches and has a wealth of promising young skill, making it one of the more appealing global openings available.
While the FA have given some clues as to which way they will be going, one World Cup director has thrown his helmet in the ring, as original Germany manager Joachim Low reportedly wants the job.
Low served as Germany's head for 15 times, helping his nation win the 2014 World Cup in Brazil, and according to The Sun, he "would be happy to speak to the FA" about the position.
The 64-year-old managed Germany at seven big games and has been out of job since standing down after his part lost to England in the last-16 of Euro 2020 three years ago.
Lowe has won at least five major tournaments and managed to reach the semi-finals, surpassing any other German manager.
The FA does not oppose hiring a foreign director, despite the perception that they favor the idea of an English employer. Eddie Howe, past Chelsea manager Graham Potter, and present England U21s captain Lee Carsley, who are the bookmakers ' favorites right now, ahead of Mauricio Pochettino, Jurgen Klopp, and Thomas Tuchel, among others.
In September, England will face off against Ireland and finally face Finland in their first match of the Nations League.
