Rooney, a legend of United and England and then head of Plymouth Argyle, second collaborated with Moyes while he was a member of Everton's professional staff.
Rooney and Moyes parted methods when they first joined United in 2004, but they reconnected nine years later when Moyes took Sir Alex Ferguson's place.

Rooney has then expressed his thoughts on why Livingstone struggled at United.
Wayne Rooney questions David Moyes ' struggle at Manchester United.
Rooney thinks Moyes needed that much power and control, as he did for his 11 successful years at Everton, which the Scot not really had at Manchester United.
Rooney said," I was a player under David Moyes at Everton and Manchester United," in a statement released by Sky Bet on the Stick to Football radio.
And the thing that struck me was that he was n't the same person at United as he was at Everton.
He "never believed he could have the power he did at Everton, and he always struggled at a team like Manchester United," he said.
Moyes and Rooney did n't always see eye-to-eye during their Manchester reunion.

However, the clubs remained at odds with their terms, and Rooney later rose to the position of United's top scorer that year, with 17 goals.
Moyes was sacked four activities before the end of the campaign after a 2-0 battle at former league Everton.
