Enzo Maresca, boss of Chelsea, appears to be closing in on his sixth summer signing after it was revealed that the club is "working on" adding a second edition to boost the Stamford Bridge ranks.

After finishing outside the bottom four for the free-spending Music, Maresca is tasked with altering the seas in West London.

Chelsea's existing lineup lately made its pre-season tour of America, starting with a 2-2 draw against League One side Wrexham.

Chelsea shut in on key goal

According to Fabrizio Romano, via Caught Offside, Chelsea are continuing to work on the filing of Villarreal goalkeeper Filip Jorgensen, with Maresca apparently disappointed by the team's current possibilities between the stones.

Kepa Arrizabalaga, who just spent a month on loan at True Madrid, failed to make the desired impression again in his homeland and then finds his disappointing career at Stamford Bridge looking destined to come to and stop this season.

However, Đorđe Petrović and Robert Sanchez have both been linked with goes away from London this summer, with neither goalkeeper able to lock down the number one position amid the chaos of last year.

The 22-year ancient Jorgensen enjoyed a miracle campaign last year, starting in all but two La Liga accessories for Villarreal.

Romano claimed via his Daily Transfer Briefing that despite not having reached a consensus, negotiations between Chelsea and Villarreal were continuing.

" I can also inform you that there is still no firm between Chelsea and Villarreal for Filip Jorgensen", he said.

According to what I've been told, the goalkeeper wants to work for Chelsea, according to the statement. They offered €20m but Villarreal want €25m, so it's a truly small space.

" The negotiation may possibly get to next month, but there's a great opportunity to get the deal done."

With his estimated €25 million payment projected to increase spending on goalkeepers by €75 million in the same time frame, Jorgensen's signing would be his fifth at Stamford Bridge goalkeeper signing in only two years.
