Since the redesigned German club plates were made available, neither Wales nor Northern Ireland have ever been able to compete in the group step of an UEFA contest. However, that may soon change for both of them.

The next leg of the Conference League play-off period may be held on Thursday night, with the sides who emerge victorious on overall going through to the team stage to possibly meet the likes of Chelsea, Fiorentina, Real Betis, Lens and Trabzonspor.

Both Northern Irish part Larne and Welsh part The New Saints FC have authentic chances of qualifying.

Larne and New Saints have qualified for the Conference League party level.

The New Saints, previously Total Network Solutions, are now playing just over the boundary in Oswestry in Shropshire as they prepare to host the next foot. They are in command of the Ukrainian side FK Panevezys, who was formed in Llansantffraid.

The Cymru Premier champions won 3-0 in the first leg in Vilnius next week, so it would take quite some crumble for them not to make it through. According to popular X account Football Rankings, The New Saints have a 97 % chance of passing.

Since 1996, the New Saints have qualified for the Cup Winners ' Cup, Champions League, UEFA Cup, Europa League, and Conference League, but this would be their second attempt to pass.

Larne, the reigning champion of Northern Ireland, is currently facing a more difficult task after conceding a 2-1 defeat to Gibraltar's Lincoln Red Imps in their first-leg activity, but Football Rankings predicts they will be favorites to advance and has 57 % of the possible lead.

After both teams lost one-goal matches at home, Larne defeated Kosovar part Ballkani on penalties in the final round of the contest.

After being eliminated from the race for a Champions League spot, Larne's fifth successive attempt to qualify for the group period of German competition was met with a group stage qualifying test.

This Friday will be the day's draw for the Conference League's class level, along with the draws for the Champions League and Europa League.
