Harry Kane opened England's bill against Denmark, but the experts believe a new danger is needed
It was another vision start for Gareth Southgate's England in Euro 2024 but, following Denmark's equaliser, the Three Lions director has been urged to remove his commander, Harry Kane.
Following a weak opening 45 minutes, Gary Lineker asked a panel made up of Micah Richards and Rio Ferdinand what they would do in the second half of a panel discussion about Southgate's choices back in the BBC theater at half-time.
Richards replied:" If it continues in the second quarter, England dropping down deeper, I do seem to take on Watkins".
Richards confirmed that Kane may replace him when Lineker asked who would replace him at Aston Villa.
" I know he's scored his goal", the original Manchester City keeper said. Although I am aware of his significance to this England side, some of that speed is required to stretch the team and advance the ball.
Ferdinand concurred with his former competitor's evaluation, adding:" You've gotta get off your great man sometimes]for ] one that fits the sport".
After Bukayo Saka had sent a Kyle Walker cut-back, Kane gave the Three Lions a common instinctive finish inside the six-yard box in the first half.
Following that opening, Southgate's part drew a lot of stress and succumbed to it after Morten Hjulmand's defensive teammates slammed it against him for it.
If Southgate follow the BBC experts ' guidance and look to change up his front, Ivan Toney of Watkins and Brentford is waiting in the wings.
