On July 20th, Sacramento Kings' new addition DeMar DeRozan shared his insights in an interview with The Athletic (TA).
When asked about mentoring younger players, DeRozan expressed, "I take pride in sharing my wisdom with my teammates. Whatever I've gone through, I share it with them, offering my tips to help others avoid pitfalls. I've experienced a lot on and off the court, and I want those who play with me to have the best. I want them to thrive in the best way possible."
Praising his star teammate De'Aaron Fox, DeRozan said, "He's incredible, one of the top point guards in the league. His ability to take over games and win them is evident, and you can see his hunger for victory every night."
Previously, when discussing his reasons for joining the Kings, DeRozan also praised Fox.
"The Kings made me feel needed. Ultimately, I just want to win and succeed at the highest level. I'm honored to be an integral part of this team," DeRozan said. "Coach Mike Brown has always been amazing. His passion for coaching has benefited me greatly. And then there's Fox. What he's done over the past few years is incredible. Now, having the opportunity to be part of that and help out excites me a lot."
"I love this challenge and the excitement that comes with it. When you compete, you want to be the best player. The Western Conference is full of talent, and every night you face a test. You work for these moments to perform at your best. So I'm very much looking forward to it; I can't wait," DeRozan added.
