Jaylen Brown is a Finals MVP, but he's not an Olympic.
Jaylen Brown is coming off a legacy-defining time.
The eight-year NBA veteran helped the Boston Celtics win their second NBA tournament since 2008, making his third All-Star team, earning MVP in the Eastern Conference finals and Finals, and capturing his second All-Star role. It's the kind of effort that places him in the pantheon of Celtics lore and squashes criticism of his$ 304 million contract extension that made him the highest-paid player in league history when he signed it.
What it did n't do is get him a spot on Team USA for the Paris Olympics. Brown missed the first slice for the last squad that's gathered in Las Vegas this week for training camp. When Kawhi Leonard withdrew on Wednesday— opening up a roster spot — Brown missed out afterwards.
Team USA rather selected Brown's Celtics partner Derrick White to remove Leonard. How Brown responded to that information on societal advertising:

It's a useful skill set that also contributed a lot to Boston winning the NBA title this year. It's apparent why Team USA made him a goal.
Brown's resentment is likewise natural.
