According to ESPN's Adrian Wojnarowski, Hurley plans to make a determination about his upcoming — whether to stay at UConn, or become the Los Angeles Lakers ' new head coach— as soon as Monday.

Hurley weighed both sides when he said the Lakers had a" compelling case" and had a" compelling vision," and that he was also proud of the partnership he had with the Huskies. Hurley is returning from his first NCAA championship against UConn.
Hurley met with the Lakers on Friday to discuss a possible cope before departing to the East Coast on Saturday, according to ESPN. He then traveled to L.A. on Thursday and met with Hurley in person on Friday. The Lakers won the NBA finals in the Orlando bubbles in 2020, but they've struggled since, losing half in the playoffs first and completely missing the playoffs in 2022. The Lakers hope that a hero like Hurley may offer a flash that will drive the team to a strong playoff run next year.
