After his slanderous remarks were declared unlawful, Joey Barton has even apologised to the TV and radio host.
Jeremy Vine's lawyer, Joey Barton, has agreed to pay him £75, 000 and has apologised in full for his actions toward the TV and radio host on social media.
Last month, a High Court judge ruled that 11 of Barton's comments about Vine on X ( formerly Twitter ) were defamatory. In the content, Barton called Vine a' large vehicle nonce' and a ' pedo goalkeeper'.
After reaching a settlement with Vine, Barton apologized on X on Tuesday, adding that he had agreed to pay him damages and pay his legitimate expenses.
Following an exchange on X about Barton's condemnation of women's participation in men's sports, Vine purchased the right to sue Barton for tort and abuse.
Barton, who posted' I'm done with social advertising' on X earlier on Tuesday morning, therefore posted the next declaration:" Between 8 and 12 January 2024 I published 11 content which accused Jeremy Vine of having a sexual interest in children, and created a tweet which made the same allegations, which were viewed millions of times", Barton wrote.
" I recognise that this is a very critical incident. It is misleading. I want to clarify Mr. Vine's sexual orientation, but I do n't think so. Based on a video clip from his TV show, I likewise published articles during the same time that made reference to Mr. Vine's advocacy for forced immunisation during the Covid 19 crisis.
" Between 8 and 12 January 2024 I published 11 messages which accused Jeremy Vine of having heterosexual interest in children, and created a tweet which made the same claims, which were viewed millions of times. I recognise that this is a…June 18, 2024
" I resent the fact that he did not support this legislation and that the video clip was edited to misinterpret what he was actually saying. After that, I made fun of and abused Mr. Vine by bringing a legitimate grievance against me.
I have consented to never repeat Mr. Vine's accusations, and I apologise to him for his suffering. To solve his claims against me in libel and intimidation, I have agreed to pay Mr Vine £75, 000 in problems and his constitutional costs."
Barton stated that he would donate the proceeds of his GoFundMe campaign, which is now worth more than £16,000, to Alder Hey due to his explanation.
Barton left Bristol Rovers in October, but he has since since taken up a new position.
