Cricket Australia has unveiled the dates for the 2025-26 Ashes set in Australia with the Gabba set to host the day-night next Check while Adelaide will host the next Test as a morning activity under a new agreement to have the pre-Christmas Test for the next seven years.

The second Ashes Test will take place in Perth starting November 21-25, with a pink-ball under the lights display in Brisbane starting December 4-8. Before the classic Boxing Day Test, which will take place on December 26 at the MCG, Adelaide will host a day activity on December 17 and 21. The second Test will take place in Sydney between January 4 and 8.

After CA announced its fixturing agreements with the different state institutions in August, it was much anticipated that the standard Ashes schedule would be changed.

Since the first day-night Test in 2015, Adelaide has hosted the two preceding Ashes day-night Tests, the first of which was held in 2017-18 and the second of those Ashes set matches in Adelaide.

But South Australia's state, along with CA, were willing to offer Adelaide a star trip casino given the Test's popularity from a tourism standpoint and it is now second in the rotation.

The Gabba has hosted three day-night testing, including West Indies ' famous victory in January of this year. But it will be the first day Brisbane has never hosted the Ashes opening since 1982-83 when Perth hosted the second Test and Brisbane had the next.

Due to uncertainty surrounding the stadium's reconstruction plans ahead of the 2032 Olympics, the future of the Gabba has been questioned. There is a chance the Ashes Test second year could be the last Gabba Test always as there is no Test scheduled that for 2026-27- and beyond- and the stadium in its latest state will not be accessible by 2030.

There has been condemnation of CA for not maintaining the Gabba as the starting Evaluation of the summertime for at least the next two months, with previous Australia allrounder Shane Watson among a host of voices who would like the Gabba to be the beginning Test. Given Australia's flawless record there, it is understood that the Australian team is delighted to play the opening Test of the summer at Optus Stadium in Perth, as has been the case for the previous two summers.

There may be less enthusiasm about using the pink ball at the Gabba as Australia's bowlers have previously been vocal about the pink ball being better suited to the Adelaide Oval pitch than the Gabba. There have been periods in the Gabba pink-ball Tests where the ball has become very soft and the game has stagnated as a result.
