Jay Shah will take over as ICC head on December 1st, which is the start of Khwaja's new term.
After being appointed for a second term, Imran Khwaja will continue to serve as the ICC's assistant head. On December 1, 2024, when BCCI minister Jay Shah takes office as ICC head, he will begin his new role.
Khwaja, who was first elected to the ICC Board in 2008, has been the assistant head since 2017. In that time, he has even held the position of time head, stepping in after Shashank Manohar's name ended in July 2020. After two rounds of voting, Greg Barclay and Khwaja vying for the best office later that year, the earlier winning.
Khwaja was re-elected as one of three Interact part managers to serve on the ICC Board at the ICC Annual General Meeting in Colombo in July of this year.
In August this month, Shah was appointed chairman unopposed, replacing Barclay, served two of his three words. At 35, Shah is the youngest to have been the mind of the ICC and was also the second Indian to hold the position, after Jagmohan Dalmiya, Sharad Pawar, N Srinivasan and Manohar.
Additionally, the ICC has approved a suggestion to change the head and board directors ' career caps. There will no longer be a maximum of three words that last for two years, but otherwise there will be a maximum of two conditions that last for three years.
