Trinbago Knight Riders, the persistent pre-tournament standouts in CPL, have had an up-and-down time so much, but considering the number of problems they've had to deal with, including injury to Dwayne Bravo, Sunil Narine and Andre Russell, their captain Kieron Pollard is n't very agitated.

While Bravo has called time on his playing career after a thigh damage cut short his CPL 2024 stay, Narine is working his way up from a rear stress. As for Russell, who was nursing a hamstring injuries at the start of the game, his task is being managed. To add to their problems, USA quickly bowling Ali Khan had been sidelined from the whole Associate 2024 with injuries.

" From a achievement view, we've played eight matches- won five and lost three. We'll get that," Pollard said before TKR's last house game of the season, against Barbados Royals. " The first step in any game is to count. If we were in fifth or sixth spot, it would be a distinct discussion. But, you expect this to occur. Given that this is T20 cricket, we will continue to compete for [fourth area ] at this point given all the challenges that have arisen throughout the year.

" We still have an opportunity to finish in the best two. This happens because we still need to perform quality cricket and maintain consistency. The game has got a little harder, despite having labels on paper, all groups are stronger and they are playing really, really great cricket. Strategically, they are up that in terms of how cricket should be played, which is a good indicator for us in the Caribbean. "

Having had the services of Bravo, Narine, Russell, Pollard and Nicholas Pooran over the years, TKR put up what was undoubtedly the most star-studded T20 line-up. In CPL 2024, they have unearthed some fresh T20 skills, including 21-year-old Shaqkere Parris and 27-year-old Keacy Carty, who has already represented West Indies in both ODI and Test cricket.

Parris, a six-time T20 player and a young CPL player, has even attracted notice outside of the Caribbean. While speaking on his Youtube network lately, R Ashwin said Parris has Pollard's" effect" after he had cracked 57 off 33 pellets against St Lucia Kings in Gros Islet. Therefore, in Port-of-Spain, he launched Guyana Amazon Warriors ' Gudakesh Motie for a 124-metre six. Pollard noted that the area's young people need to improve their game even more, despite his appreciation for Parris ' progress.

" It augurs also. You talk about his performances in Barbados, but he also played for Victoria in Trinidad and Victoria in the final native time, Pollard said. Again, it's something that we had looked at as a team when he arrived and had the opportunity to play five games, and that he had a conversation about simply certainly playing because we had to play, but also that he had the opportunity to find him as a regular player when that opportunity comes up. But kudos must go to him as also, taking up the earth to show that this is what he's made of.

However, from a performance standpoint," We would have loved to have some regional guys, both regional from Trinidad," to be included in the squad. And that's how we look at it. Not just because you're from Trinidad, we're going to find you, we look at achievements as effectively. But that means our own people need to have a look at themselves and individuals above as well to create what is needed going forward.

" This under-23 is made for regional people to get the chance to fly the flag. For Parris and Nathan Edward, they've shown us what they can do and hopefully in the future we can have more of those talents coming through because we need the next batches of the Dwayne Bravos, the Sunil Narines and Kieron Pollards, Lendl Simmons and [ Denesh ] Ramdins from Trinidad as well. But, a lot of work to be done on that. "
