When three meals and lodging are provided, the PCB's formal policy does not require the provision of regular accommodations.
Pakistan children's team had not received regular concessions during their continuous training camp in Multan, which started on September 1. The women's club, which is at the station ahead of Pakistan's three T20I matches against South Africa next year, will receive allowances when the line starts.
The choice, however, is a change in policy from how earlier camps ' allocations were set up, and it also sets it apart from how the men's national team handles it.
In the past, ESPNcricinfo understands that the children's team received humble everyday accommodations at training camps. This time, however, the Board is providing lodging as well as three foods to the users at the tent, at earlier camps, three normal meals were not provided. A PCB national told ESPNcricinfo the board's plan dictated that if three meals a day and hotel accommodation were made accessible, no regular concessions over and above that would be provided.
In theory, that remains true for the men's part, also, but is rarely, if ever, put into practice. During the most recent female's training station, held back of Pakistan's Test set against Bangladesh, the players were offered regular allowances over and above the lodging and any meals provided. However, three complimentary complete meals were not provided for free, and the accommodations were treated as compensatory. At past camps over the years, the people's area have almost always been awarded regular concessions, often with up to two meals readily available.
It is not clear why the shift in food and income framework has kicked in for the women's area, which has successfully seen a reduction in the reward offered at training camps. Three full meals and some financial daily accommodations were provided to all participants at the Pakistan women's station in Karachi in early April, just before the West Indies ' white-ball house line kicked off. Thereafter, nevertheless, the PCB has deemed offering fiscal reward surplus to requirements if three full meals are being provided.
ESPNcricinfo understands the change in policy has left a number of the women's people disappointed, with some believing being away from home for a tent virtues beyond simply meeting the basic daily demands of lodging and meals. There were hopes this would increase at future tents, with the children's part gearing up for the children's T20 World Cup, to be held next month.
The scenario arises at a time when the PCB's spending power is at an all-time high, especially in the form of stadium updates, which are thought to charge the PCB tens of billions of pounds. The Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore is being rebuilt nearly from damage, with the National Stadium in Karachi even seeing a significant overhaul. The Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium is also undergoing some development as the PCB prepares to host the second ICC event in nearly three decades, the Champions Trophy in 2025.
However, the continuous Champions One-Day Cup, the home 50-over competitors, has also seen a big financial outlay. The PCB may provide prize money in the event of about PKR 49 million, which is nearly ten times the amount offered last year and nearly half the amount that the PSL provided earlier this year. All five of the five sides ' past cricketers ' coaches are paid sizable pay, roughly PKR 5 million per month in three-year agreements, which, combined, will cost the PCB about PKR 900 million in specialist salary payments.
Both the central and domestic contracts for women have not yet been finalized and announced. Last year, 19 women were awarded central contracts from August 1 2023, due to run till June 30, 2025. However, they were to be assessed at the end of the first 12 months, with six further weeks having passed since that assessment date, with any revisions to the contracts still pending. The men's central contracts, too, are well past their assessment date, and though they are expected imminently, there is no official word yet on when any changes will be announced.
