In order to create" a new dynamic," Ireland has removed Test captain Andy Balbirnie from their T20I club for the game against South Africa in Abu Dhabi later this month.
Balbirnie is Ireland's second-highest T20I run-scorer but has struggled for kind this time, averaging 24.83 in his 12 pitches and scoring at a strike price of only 113.74. " 2026 and 2027 are important times for our white-ball teams- those years being the next T20 and 50-over World Cups both. Given their timelines, it means we are looking at this forthcoming set against South Africa as the start of a new period", White said.
" We need to strengthen our share of international bowlers and for the likes of Gavin Hoey, he will come into the international market with greater assurance following his participation in such lights and this is hugely important. There will be opportunities for players to make their mark as a result of the volume of international matches that will take place in 2027.
Due to "infrastructure constraints," which Ireland hope will be overcome with the construction of a new national stadium, they are staging South Africa's tour in Abu Dhabi. Many of South Africa's first-choice players have been rested, as have South Africa's already announced their squads for the series.
