Aunshu bhai's departure has me greatly depressed. He was strongly associated with my job as selection, coach but more importantly often had my back. a compassionate individual with a pro-active dynamic ability. Our brotherhood is going to lose you Aunshubhai. Perhaps God give…

India captain Rohit Sharma said he was "absolutely devastated" to hear the news. On the day of the first international match against Sri Lanka, Rohit said," I had a few conversations with him during the BCCI honours, and on a specific note as well." He was present when I was playing the Ranji Trophy, and I got to talk to him when he had a few things to talk about my game as well, which surprised me because he had been like a great cricket player. It's always good to learn from your seniors, comprehend how cricket was once played, how difficult it was, and then share his experiences with cricket and what his thoughts are about it. That was a great understanding at that time, in my opinion. Apologies to his community, it's not a good moment when you lose your loved ones, it's often difficult. I was fortunate to have a several opportunities to meet him and speak with him directly.
Between 1997 and 2000, Gaekwad served as the coach of India. He first took over in the Sachin Tendulkar period where he oversaw a period of transition, and afterward came back in the middle of the match-fixing story, after Kapil Dev's departure for a short period while a continuous appointee was being finalised.
Among India's higher points during his career were the Independence Cup defeat, a 2-1 house line win against Australia, Anil Kumble's 10-wicket pull against Pakistan to level the Test collection at home, and a drawn ODI series in New Zealand. At the request of AC Muthiah, the then BCCI president, he returned to take them to the 2000 ICC Knockout Trophy final, where they lost to New Zealand in the final.
Roger Binny, the BCCI president, said in tribute:" Anshuman Gaekwad's passing is a great loss for Indian cricket. His dedication, resilience, and love for the game were unparalleled. He was not just a cricketer but a mentor and a friend to many. The cricketing community will miss him dearly, and his contributions will always be remembered".
Earlier this month, the BCCI had released INR 1 crore towards Gaekwad's treatment, after Kapil and Sandeep Patil urged the board to help him.
