Clive Lloyd, the back-to-back World Cup winning captain of the West Indies, has been conferred the Order of the Caribbean Community ( OCC). It is the state's highest dignity.

At Sunday's 47th Regular Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community ( CARICOM), which took place in Grenada, Lloyd, 79, was given the OCC.

Dr. Kishore Shallow, president of Cricket West Indies, was present at the service, and he said," This pride is a fitting tribute to a person who has consistently demonstrated quality on the area of cricket." Sir Clive's efforts to cricket and his unmatched effort to advance the game are unmatched.

" Sir Clive's tradition is one that resonates significantly with every West Indian. His command, resolve, and fairness have set the standard for what it means to be a true hero. His enduring influence on our territory and the cricket game is exemplified by CARICOM's recognition. We are privileged to share this occasion with him.

After his playing days as a coach, picker, and match referee, Lloyd continued to play cricket. He was even a civil servant for the Guyana Ministry of Health, and he was awarded the 2019 Guyana Ministry of Health Knight.
