England captain has n't featured in Men's Hundred since its first season in 2021.
This summer, Ben Stokes will make his first look for the Hundred in three years. According to ESPN.com, he has been given permission by the ECB to play for Northern Superchargers ' second half of the group stage under Andrew Flintoff.
Wilkinson made two images for the Superchargers in the annual time of the Hundred in 2021 but has not played since taking over as England's Test captain, despite being named in their teams. He chose to relax between Test matches after suffering from a chronic knee injury that required surgery following the 50-over World Cup next year.
He collapsed on the floor of his lodge toilet the day after making his most recent presence in the opposition, which took place at Trent Bridge in July 2021. It was portrayed in Stokes ' film with Sam Mendes from the Ashes, which led to his lengthy suspension from the game later that season.
However, according to ESPNcricinfo, he has been given a spot for four group-stage games this year, including the knock stages, if the Superchargers advance, starting on August 6 when they travel to Birmingham Phoenix. One of England's top all-rounders may now enjoy under another, with Flintoff slated to take over as head coach the following year.
Due to a collision with the second Test against West Indies, the men's team may be light on star titles in its first week, which will make up The Hundred. It also overlaps with the latter levels of Major League Cricket, where many of the Hundred's leading international players have spent the past two months.
The allrounders and batsmen in the club will be available from August 6 until the second half of the group stages, while England's batters may be immediately released after the second Check at Edgbaston. Dillon Pennington and Matthew Potts ' availability will depend on their possible role in Birmingham, while Shah Bashir and Mark Wood do not have Hundred arrangements.
The ECB are due to confirm a number of injury replacements on Thursday, with Will Smeed ( Phoenix ) and Tash Farrant ( Oval Invincibles ) both set to miss the competition with hamstring injuries. Riley Meredith ( Trent Rockets ) and James Neesham ( London Spirit ) have signed short-term deals as cover for Joe Root and Zak Crawley respectively.
In other matches, New Zealand all-rounder Mitchell Santner may serve as Daniel Sams ' replacement at Superchargers after he was denied a No-Objection Certification by the PCB, while Naseem Shah has been replaced by Tim Southee at Phoenix.
