In Chennai on Friday, during the first T20I between India and South Africa, Ravi Ghosh suffered a trauma. S Sajana, a 20-year-old bowler, stepped in to replace her as the batsmen, who was later declared out of the game.

Ghosh, who was playing her 50th T20I, had symptoms of "neck anguish and drowsiness" as per a BCCI speech after attempting a find in the 16th over of the first innings. Tazmin Brits heaved a size ball from Pooja Vastrakar across the range and got a major advantage. Ghosh ran forward, put in a large pa and reached out with both arms but the ball rebounded off her gloves and into her mouth. Ghosh quickly sought the help of India masseuse and went off the area.

Uma Chetry, an unrestricted player, started as a substitute and kept the wicket, but Sajana was later named the official concussion substitute after the innings changed. She would've been allowed to bird had there been the needed but the match ended before that with South Africa obtaining a 12- run success and a 1- 0 lead in the three- match series.

British even suffered an injury, a bruise in the right lower foot and had to be stretchered off the area in the next pitches. It seemed like a pain immediately when she went off the area after the second over. This was after the South Africa opening spent 92 minutes during the first pitches best- rating for her part with a 56- game 81 that helped the visitors to 189 for 4. Masabata Klaas replaced Brits in the field.
