New v AUS 2023/24 New Zealand vs Australia Match Preview: A settled Australia remain intact but the house edge are suddenly left pondering their rewrite options

New Zealand's household period may be defined by what happens over the next few weeks in Christchurch. The summer will be regarded as a success if they can recover from their extensive defeat in Wellington and fight Australia in a unique test, consolidating their position at the top of the WTC standings. Another battle, which record suggests is the likelier effect, and there will be plenty of questions lingering back of their next Test assignments in September which includes a one- off fixture against Afghanistan then absent tours of Sri Lanka and India.
In many respects, the same could be said of Australia. With New Zealand leaving with a score of 2- 0, they will have six Examine victories over the southern hemisphere time, a shared series, and they will also have much to think about in preparation for the November showdown with India.
With the introduction of 100 Testing by two of New Zealand's greatest gamers, Kane Williamson and Tim Southee, it seems unlikely that they will be able to topple their neighbors, which they have only managed after since 1993. It's a car week for the step, with Jonny Bairstow and R Ashwin doing the same in Dharamshala.
Both Will O'Rourke and Rachin Ravindra's appearances in Wellington and those of Glenn Phillips ' shows, both with an eye toward the future, encouraged. Ben Sears is also full of excitement, but a social efficiency is required over the coming days.
Australia has its problems. The top-order returns something that ca n't currently be brushed over, which is currently doing a lot of heavy lifting for the bowling attack. With so much time to go before the summers, Cameron Green's era in Wellington was significant for the re-shaped order. However, Christchurch may benefit from a few other centuries without having to dwell on any uncertainty.

In the spotlight: Tom Latham and Alex Carey
It is almost a year ( six Tests ) since Tom Latham has reached fifty, which came at this ground against Sri Lanka, and he has n't scored a century since December 2022 against Pakistan in Karachi. New Zealand have more from their top opening. In Wellington, he and Mitchell Starc had to choose between two innings, but in the second innings he came up against a small basketball from Nathan Lyon.
Sometimes Alex Carey needs to find a swimming pool? Jokes off about the upswing in shape he found after the terrible pass on Australia's visit of Pakistan in first 2022, this is shaping as a very important Test for the wicketkeeper. There were some fruitful wickets of cricket during the summer, but his credit may be running out, especially given how the first Check was handled. The good news for him is that his boots are still working quite well. However, Josh Inglis will have to breathe down his neck if he does n't score runs in this game, which will be one of the talking points through November.
Team information: Ben Sears to album, Australia constant
Ben Sears has confirmed that he will make a comeback, so the home side must decide whether to keep four quicks or bring in left-arm spinner Mitchell Santner. They have been burnt twice in two activities by omitting Santner, but Hagley Oval has a flip- bowling average of 55.79- Australia's all- day list
New Zealand have lost only two of 12 Testing at Hagley Oval: against Australia in 2016 and South Africa in 2022
Tom Latham needs 28 works to get past John Wright into fifth among New Zealand's all- time performers
Steven Smith's longest start to his career, 19 innings without a century, is his longest since making his debut ( 22 innings ).
Quotes
" As a part where we're disappointed with next week, but we also realized that we've played some very good cricket as a part over the years as well and particularly at this earth. Within those four walls, there is a strong conviction that the job will be completed in five days.

" I think the trend is it starts off really green and it obviously gets a bit flatter. It's not like a Gabba green wicket day one where it's going to seam all over the place. They still play fairly well in this context, in my opinion. It can be a little bit misleading at times, I think. It looks like a good wicket. Here, it always seems to be pretty consistently good.
