The squad's average time was decreased from 29 to 26 thanks to six adjustments.
In preparation for the three-match set against West Indies, Sri Lanka has made six changes to the team that qualified for the T20 World Cup qualifiers next month. Imesha Dulani, Sachini Nisansala, and Kaushini Nuthyangana, who are under the age of 25, have eight T20Is in their portfolio, as well as the unlimited 17-year-old Rashmika Sewwandi. The former duo of Oshadi Ranasinghe and Ama Kanchana, who next participated in a T20I in September and February, respectively, have also been called back.
Making means are Udeshika Prabodhani, Inoka Ranaweera, Hansima Karunaratne, Anushka Sanjeewani and Achini Kulasuriya. After both Sanjeewani and Kulasuriya had made their mark in the recently concluded International set against the West Indies, their absences are likely to cause controversy.
Before being rotated out in the second ODI, Kulasuriya had taken three wickets in both the first and second one. Her decisive economic performances had also contributed to Sri Lanka's undefeated run in the finals. Sanjeewani had earlier reportedly smashed her means out of a slump with a match-defining 46-ball 55 two days prior.
Overall, the squad's ordinary time decreased from 29.4 to 26.25 due to the restrictions and their repairs. Sewwandi, a batting allrounder, joins 15 yr- old Shashini Gimhani- who made her debut in the qualifiers- in the 16- associate squad, while there are today only six players above the age of 30.
Despite these changes though, the batting system remains as good as previously, led by Chamari Athapaththu. Vishmi Gunaratne, however only 18, has now nailed down a place at the top of the attempt, while the likes of Harshitha Samarawickrama, Hasini Perera, Nilakshi de Silva and Kavisha Dilhari were all in the works during the West Indies OD Is. There could also be sport occasion for Dulani and allrounder Sewwandi, along with Nuthyangana, who is the only accepted bowler in the club.
The roll office as always is stacked, and will be headed by the expert group of Ranasinghe, Inoshi Fernando and Sugandika Kumari. They will be supplemented by wristspinner Gimhani and left- arm spin Nisansala- clean off a five- innings pull in her last ODI- while also being able to call on the services of Dilhari and Athapaththu. However Kanchana, Kawya Kavindi and Sewwandi are the hole ball options.
On June 24, Hambantota will host the second T20I, followed by the second and third games on June 26 and 28.
