During their performing time, Premier League legends Alan Shearer and Roy Keane ran into each other.
Was Roy Keane and Alan Shearer ever fight off in a star boxing match?
Legend of Manchester United versus legendary Newcastle United image? BBC vs ITV? The Rest Is Sports opposed Stick To Football? It has the ability to be a fight for a lifetime.
The two were frequently at odds during their watching times, most notably in September 2001 during Newcastle's 4-3 get over Keane's part at St James Park.
Shearer and Keane squared off in the edge with only a few minutes left before the Magpies won. A ball was thrown, words exchanged, and Keane was ultimately dismissed for failing to connect with his blow.
Shearer recalled on the Match of the Day: Top 10 podcast last year:" I had loads of rucks with him and I was n't the only one. It was a throw-in in the far edge where I stopped him taking an early put.
He wanted to take a quick throw-in and he had been at me throughout the entire game as he generally was when we were down at St. James ' Park.
" It was about three of four minutes before the end of the game. I ca n't remember exactly what I said, I called him some sort of name.
" He got the red cards and I remember having a little laugh and thought,' I've done you like a uc ok'. I ca n't believe you've fallen into that little trap."
Shearer's ruling on whether a boxing match between him and Keane may occur
On an instance of Shearer's The Rest Of Football audio, co-host Gary Lineker posed the idea of a meeting between the two inside the squared group.
The original Barcelona and Tottenham scorer said:" I think I'd up you against him, Al. Also today. People would probably give to see that, in my opinion.
" You get all of these brand conflicts today – find the two of you in UFC boots or fighting boots".
But sadly for those who would be interested in the potential bout, Shearer is n't interested.
" I would n't. I'm also old for that s***, Gaz", he laughed.
As it stands a match-up between the two seems implausible. The best we can anticipate is a possible radio crossing, with Shearer appearing on Stick To Football.
