The Northern European FA continue to support opening game for Euro 2028.
Despite recent confirmation that Belfast's Casement Park wo n't be chosen, GAA president Jarlath Burns continues to support Northern Ireland hosting games at Euro 2028.
Up until last week's announcement from the British Government confirming they did not approve the needed funding to redevelop the stadium in time to meet UEFA needs, the national stadium was scheduled to host game at Euro 2028.
The majority of the organizing tasks will be assigned to England, with Wales, Scotland, the Republic of Ireland, and Northern Ireland taking the lead, while the rest may be distributed among the United Kingdom.
Euro 2028 hope remain- says GAA President
President Burns confirmed that the GAA is presently considering replacing Casement Park with Cork's Pairc Ui Chaoimh, as well as confirming discussions with the FAI regarding adding Croke Park in Dublin to the listing of opening locations.
" Certainly, we in the GAA would be very supportive of that", said Burns when asked about the possibility of games being played in Cork.
We are aware that Pairc Ui Chaoimh is open to all types of business, so we would suggest including as many activities as possible.
When discussing the improvements necessary for Pairc Ui Chaoimh, Burns said," Well, that's something that is ambitious at the moment and we have considered that," adding that the GAA may be involved in any such choice.
" I ca n't speak for UEFA; it's up to them," said the Minister for Sport," but the fact that the Tanaiste and the Minister for Sport quickly voted in favor of it is very encouraging for us." In the end, Uefa must make the decision, but we are completely aware of that.
