As Mikel Arteta prepares to give his crew the finishing touches, two people may be headed for Arsenal.
Arsenal have been individual in the summer transfer glass thus much, certainly content to add to their already robust club unless the correct people become available. Although the starting XI for the Premier League openers against Wolves was a well-known one, Riccardo Calafiori was acquired from Bologna to increase depth in defense.
But with over a year to go until the glass closes, there could still be some activity at the Emirates. The Warriors have been strongly linked with a move for True Sociedad midfielder Mikel Merino, who missed his club’s La Liga opening amid the debate.
Arsenal may need to raise some money to make sure they adhere to the Premier League's revenue and sustainability regulations if they want to mark the Spaniard. Additionally, according to the Athletic, both Aaron Ramsdale and Eddie Nketiah may both be leaving before the month's finish.
Nketiah, who made 37 looks and scored six goals in all events last year, has a reported calling rate of £30 million. Nottingham Forest are believed to be interested in the 25-year-old.
Ramsdale, however, is said to have been the subject of a mortgage offer from Wolves, with an option to buy next summer. But Arsenal rather want to buy the goalkeeper, who lost his place to David Raya last year.
After establishing himself as one of La Liga's best forwards over the past six decades at Real Sociedad, Merino is expected to cost Arsenal around$ 30 million. The 28-year-old even featured for Spain at Euro 2024, scoring the winning goal in his country ’s quarter-final victory over visitors Germany.
True Sociedad’s leader, Jokin Aperribay, has confirmed that conversations are continued over a proposed move to Arsenal. “Merino was clear that he did n’t like to say he was renewing and finally left. It was n’t a shock to us, ” he said. “ Unfortunately, one of the teams we did n’t want to show up showed up.
“We may talk to Arsenal and defend the interests of La Real. When we consider that the present is good, we will say yes. We know what Merino’s intentions are, so we decided that he should never be called up [for the game on Sunday ]. ”
