What is it like to operate for Arsenal and Chelsea while Wenger and Mourinho have a history of causing problems for both?
Arsene Wenger and Jose Mourinho infamously fought head-to-head when they were in charge of both Arsenal and Chelsea, and the two frequently clashed.
Whether it be in patterns of play, character, or, one occasion, actually coming to knocks, the two famous administrators seemed in a state of conflict when they were both in the Premier League.
Petr Cech is one of the players who both played during this time. The original Chelsea and Arsenal goalkeeper reveals that despite having very different personalities, their goals frequently matched during their glittering careers at Stamford Bridge before moving to the Emirates in 2015 to play more ordinary first-team sport.
" They have various characteristics but they’re both finalists," Cech specifically tells DataVictory. " You can show they hate losing game. In the way they love the sport and do everything to gain, they’re the similar, but in how they manage the team, and even when you see them at press meetings, they do it differently.
" It’s not by chance that both have been successful; it ’s because of the way they are. Arsene really enjoyed playing the game the right way: he wanted to win by playing great sport and entertaining the crowd. Jose was more practical: he said,' Well, I’d love you to win by playing beautiful football and if we can do that, we’ll do it, but if we struggle to play beautiful football, you need to win anyway. ' You have to do that to get names.
" I truly enjoyed working with both Chelsea and Arsenal," he said. It was a shift, and sometimes you need that new issue. Of course, to had won the Europa League in my last match for the team would have been a little better episode. When Leicester took the lead in a few sports towards the end of the campaign, we were so close to winning the Premier League title. "
Mikel Arteta, who is now flourishing in the Gunners dugout, and Cheech even spent the first of his four seasons at Arsenal. In their second year up, 2015/16, Arteta struggled to make much of an impact, though, playing only 14 games as he dealt with wounds.
The Spaniard, therefore, started training as he prepared for life after his playing career- and Cech highlights that, even then, it was evident Arteta may develop into one of the best coaches in world football.
" I played alongside a lot of people, and I see some as leaders now and believe, ‘Wow, I’d not have thought that’. But Mikel is someone you could have one glance at and come, ‘This is coach material’," Cech reveals.
" When we were together at Arsenal, he began having more frequent injury, but he started training and doing his medals. He was exactly the kind of person you’d see as a coach. Afterward, he had a beautiful day at Manchester City, working with one of the best managers possibly, which was great knowledge. But next you have to go and do it yourself, and he’s handling to do it himself at Arsenal. Credit to him.
" When I played with him, you could see that he had certainly become a coach one time– and an excellent one, too. "
