With Mike Penders ' prospective arrival, Chelsea would have signed him for the summer in a ministry that was already well-stocked.
The club's selection coverage has raised questions about the 18-year-old Genk goalkeeper's status because the stopper will one of nine goalkeepers at the club.
Just a couple of days ago Chelsea added Villarreal cap Filip Jorgensen to a club that already contained Kepa Arrizabalaga, Marcus Bettinelli, Lucas Bergstrom, Robert Sanchez, Djordje Petrovic, Gabiel Slonina and Eddie Beach ( who has, to be honest, gone out on payment to Crawley ).
That's a lot of players for a position that can only always had one starter- but reports suggest that Chelsea are, in fact, never wholly daft and intend to trim the ranks greatly over the remaining weeks of the transfer window.
Chelsea set for ship of goalkeeper deviations
According to the Daily Express, plans are underway to reduce their goalkeeper figures down from the eight already on the training floor to only three.
For example, Fabrizio Romano has suggested that Penders may be kept on product at Genk for the time back on a one-year product.
It's been no solution that Kepa is considered dispensable, and Chelsea hope to find an ideal man for his service.
With previous Brighton number one Sanchez then back healthy and available for selection, it is possible that deputy Petrovic had left. The Express name Fiorentina and Strasbourg as possible places, to which we would state: what, even after the Italians signal David De Gea?
They go on that Slonina is being lined up for another mortgage move having gone directly back to Chicago Fire after signing in 2022 and then spending next year with French league Eupen.
Bergstrom would then be Chelsea's chosen under-21s goalkeeper, leaving Sanchez, Jorgensen and Bettinelli as their three top athletes in Enzo Maresca's club.
Although that approach seems to have some risk, the loan market for goalkeepers is usually strong, and it's still to be seen how much Chelsea would anticipate paying for the unintentional Kepa.
Still, for a club that has complained about having to meet profit and sustainability regulations... it does n't feel like the most effective use of their available money, does it?
