Pep Guardiola, the manager of Manchester City, has spoken during his team's US journey.
As rumors about their future at Manchester City continue to swirl, Pep Guardiola has spoken about the prospect of two of his key players.
City are now playing for foes Manchester United in the FA Community Shield while they travel to the United States for pre-season games against Barcelona and Chelsea.
As Guardiola and firm look to master a second right Premier League title, the club have been fairly silent so far in the transfer window, with Portuguese winger Savinho their just arrival thus far, while youngsters Taylor Harwood-Bellis, Sergio Gomez and Tommy Doyle have left the club.
But with two important first-team people the subject of debate linking them with moves ahead, the structure of the existing window was quickly shift.
Manchester City captain Kevin De Bruyne turned 33 next month and is now in the last year of his City offer after nine trophy-packed times with the team, but amid speculation linking him with a move to Saudi Arabia, Guardiola has admitted the puck is in the Belgian’s judge when it comes to his future.
“The club informed me that they did n’t have an offer, ” Guardiola told a press conference. I want him to be, despite not knowing what will happen.
“ He was below before I arrived. He is the eldest ( longest serving ) player here. It happened with David [Silva] for instance and other people, he has the payment to determine his future himself.
He has made a significant decision about what he has done for us. He may be, according to the information I currently have. ”
De Bruyne was a key player during the run-in, finishing the season with four goals and 10 helps in 18 Premier League looks despite a hamstring injury that kept him out for the first half of the plan.
Brazilian winger Julian Alvarez, who is now playing for Atletico Madrid but has been linked to Atletico Madrid in subsequent weeks, and who made up Guardiola's crew, was another important player. The two had a discussion on Monday about his situation.
" There is a lot of talk," Alvarez said. " I am focused around [at the Olympics ] because it is a quick game. At Manchester City I feel very good, I played a lot of minutes.
" But we will notice after the Games. Second, if I may, I may take a few days away. Then we will choose. Players always want to assist on the pitch, which may make it unpleasant to be absent from great games. But my time was fine, so I'm very glad. "
When asked if City may appear to change the 24-year-old, Guardiola was well aware of these assertions when he was questioned about whether or not he would do so.
" I don’t think about replacing, ” was his blunt response. He said," I knew he would think about it.
“Once he has finished thinking, his agent will call Txiki [ Begiristain ] and we will see what happens. I know he wants to play in critical times, but the other players [want that ] too.
“We have 18 or 19 players who want to play in the crucial activities. I read he has to think about it, but cool think about it and after that he may tell us what he wants to accomplish. ”
