As the transfer market at the Emirates Stadium drags on, Arsenal have made a sizable sell to a player they want to tie up.
A Newcastle religion warrior will receive a significant salary at the Emirates Stadium.
The Raiders are looking to make changes to their squad this summer back of another possible name cost, after finishing second to Manchester City last name. David Raya has joined entirely, while European defender Riccardo Calafiori is said to be on the way.
Bruno Guimaraes, a launch section that has already expired this summer, has been strongly linked with the top two in midfield. But it's another Toon favorites who may visit instead.
According to Mundo Deportivo's Basque release via Sport Witness, Arsenal are to give Real Sociedad sun, Mikel Merino, the" commitment of a life" to visit them this summer. Aston Villa are said to be interested, too.
Merino spent a year and a half on Tyneside, initially on loan, becoming a fan favourite. Since leaving for La Real, however, he's developed into one of Spain's best midfielders, even scoring at Euro 2024 with a trademark bullet header to send La Roja into the semi-final at the expense of hosts, Germany.
The Basque controller is said to be more likely than Villa to sign him, with Villa reportedly tying up a move for Everton's Amadou Onana. Mikel Arteta and Merino have reportedly spoken directly over a move, according to another report from Sport Witness.
In DataVictory's opinion, this is a deal that looks ever more likely with fewer affordable options at No. 6 and No. 8 for Arsenal. With Jorginho's contract ending next summer, Merino could fulfill Arteta's demands and take over the role of Granit Xhaka in the side.
While the signing is n't perfect, it's practical. Merino would be a fantastic buy in an inflated market, allowing the Gunners to compete for a big-money striker, should they wish.
Transfermarkt currently values Merino at €40 million.
