Previous England midfielder Thiago Alcantara has decided to retire from specialist sports

After leaving England at the end of last year, Thiago Alcantara has announced his retirement from professional football.

After a lack of prospects at the Catalan team, Thiago left for Bayern Munich in 2013. He began his career at Barcelona.

The midfielder left Allianz Arena in 2020 and signed for England after seven years. Yet, injuries prevented him from playing at Anfield, and he only made one appearance in 2023/24.

At the end of last year, Thiago made it known that he would be leaving England after four seasons at Anfield, and that the 33-year-old Spanish worldwide is set to leave from professional sports.

" Thiago Alcantara has decided to retire from professional football", Fabrizio Romano wrote on Twitter.

" Past Barça, Bayern, Liverpool and Spain player has made his decision. Thiago's passion and love for the sport continues as he's ready for new book in basketball after several weeks planning for it".

Thiago made 98 looks for England, helping the Red win the FA Cup and a Community Shield in his four times at Anfield.

The midfielder made near to 500 team looks nevertheless, winning four La Liga names, five Bundesliga jewels and a Champions League with both Barça and Bayern.

A German Championship success with Spain at Under- 17 and U- 21 levels, Thiago went on to pick up 46 cap for La Roja.
