We're unsure of Ivan Toney's potential; we're looking at where the Brentford striker might ending up at the end of the summer.
Ivan Toney has been the subject of intense transfer debate for over 18 months then, and it seems inevitable now that the England striker did depart Brentford this summer.
While Toney claimed during the class stages that he was focused solely on representing England at Euro 2024, it seems Brentford view their star scorer in a completely different light. In fact, Thomas Frank acknowledged that Toney's departure was ascribed to the filing of Club Brugge scorer Igor Thiago for £30 million in February, with the 28-year-old having less than a year left on his contract.
We are on record with a lot of things in terms of the swaps", Frank told the BBC's Football Daily Podcast.
" Of training, we prepare and then other things can happen. We may be selling a player, but we are prepared to do so. It's no secret that there's lots of speculations about Ivan. Igor Thiago is a major player who will be ready and brought in if he leaves, and I'd still like to retain him because he's a major player.
With the risk of Toney leaving for free in 12 month period, Brentford are thus looking to cash in on the scorer. The Bees ' commitment will be temptated by a reportedly £60m price, but clubs will unavoidably try to negotiate that sum in the upcoming weeks.
But what are the choices available to Ivan Toney this summer? By August 31 DataVictory is looking into where Toney might finish up.
This summers, where might Ivan Toney relocate? 1. Arsenal
It's only a matter of moment since Ivan Toney's career has been linked to Arsenal. The move seemed natural, so to replace the misfiring Eddie Nketiah and Gabriel Jesus with Toney, who reportedly told Toney on the Diary of a CEO radio that he had a dream to play for Fleet one evening, which sparked rumors of a move.
But that moment may well have been and gone.
At the end of the 2023/24 season, Kai Havertz developed into a brilliant false nine for Arsenal. Toney's excellent movement and Martin Odegaard's vision would complement him, but he does n't seem to fit the mold of Mikel Arteta, who is also interested in him.
At 28, Toney is far from aged- but he's not simply a spring meat. His approach has also been questioned, not the least of which is because he appears to be burning desire to leave Brentford for a" top league, competing for prizes." This does n't seem to have gone down too well at the Emirates Stadium and, in DataVictory's opinion, could see a potential deal dead in the water.
While this is a move far from the realms of possibility, it just does n't seem likely anytime soon. Maybe next summer if he's accessible on a free, yet.
2. West Ham United
In theory, this could work best for all parties, despite the fact that there are n't any reports linking Toney to West Ham. West Ham are in need of a new scorer, what with Michail Antonio then 34 and not the most famous of goalscorers, while Danny Ings has managed only three goals for the team in the past 18 month.
Julen Lopetegui's appointment also highlights the team's coming goals, as the Spaniard recently led Real Madrid and had a successful time at Wolves before resigning. With a Europa Conference League medal in the case, pushing for another place in Western competition is definitely in order for West Ham in the coming years, and Toney could be at the vanguard of that.
West Ham have proven they're willing to spend money, also. Toney may need a team record offer, but he's a proven Premier League player who can take them to the next level. Julian Haller, Mohamed Kudus, and Lucas Paqueta all signed for sizable sums of money. This makes feeling.
3. Saudi Arabia?
Apart from the Premier League and Real Madrid, who, let's be honest, wo n't be signing Ivan Toney anytime soon, only clubs in Saudi Arabia can actually afford the Englishman.
Aleksandr Mitrovic left Fulham for Al-Hilal next summer, giving an idea of what Brentford might be looking for in Toney. When considering that Mitrovic left the Premier League at 28- years- ancient, and Toney managed 20 goals in the 2022/23 compared to the Serb's 14, it's possible that the Bees will get a higher transfer fee than Fulham got for their previous talisman.
Toney, though, likely would n't want to move to Saudi Arabia, not while he retains an ambition of playing in European competitions and fighting for his spot in the England squad. After all, solid type in the next two seasons likely cement his position for the 2026 World Cup, while a Champions League/Europa League/Conference League work will justify his cause comments.
4. Sit at Brentford
With relatively minimal choices available to Toney this summer, there's certainly a strong likelihood that he stays at the Gtech Community Stadium for the 2024/25 time.
Brentford's chances of keeping the team in the Premier League for another season outweigh the possibility of losing a double-figure goalscorer. Sure, £60m is a lot of money, but in the present transfer business that can get you, what, Elliot Anderson and Lewis Hall? No disrespect is intended, but neither player has the power to completely transform the winter at Brentford.
Although seeing Toney left for completely next summer might get a kick in the teeth for a team that gave him a chance to return to the top flight, as Frank suggests, they have already dealt with his alternative. In the long run, giving Igor Thiago a year to sleep in might be beneficial.
