Arsenal and Manchester United's middle- 2000s conflicts were the stuff of story. Two title-fighting team coached by legendary administrators, brimming with talented players, and backed by two contemporary hard men.

The 2005 Highbury Tunnel event, which occurred before the teams yet entered the pitch, was one of the most notorious run-ins in a fight.

Officers Roy Keane and Patrick Vieira were to the two main characters, with the Red Devils captain telling the Frenchman," I'll see you out it" after he accused Vieira of picking on Gary Neville.

Vieira revealed his motives for planning the entire episode after the three players have nowadays reflected on the event.

Neville kicked off the tale, telling Sky Bet's Stick to Football:" The perspective of this is that we're warming up before the match and I run down the tunnel at Highbury, and I may speak thuds behind me all of a sudden, and Patrick shouting my title,' Oi you,' or something like that. He ran up behind me in the hole and said,' You does n't push our f*cking people now,' or something like that".

Vieira finally intervened to give his part the lead.

" That was planned by me", he said. " Because of the nine years I spent at Arsenal, I did n't like you at all. It is true, I could n't stand you at all]Gary Neville ] because you were kicking everybody, and especially Robert]Pires ] when he was there. Because you struggled against Robert, I was like I had to let you know that now you are not going to reach him.

I pleaded with you to let him go that morning. You seemed to be fighting him like a champ. Robert was good, he was very good to talk, and I felt at that time you went over the top, it was too much, and it was too evident. You had a lot of electricity, and because Manchester United controlled all the arbitrators, you were allowed to do what you actually wanted to do, so I had it planned out.

" In the practice, if I saw you going into the hole, I had run after you. I ran behind you after I saw you running, and I wanted to let you know that today would be different and that it would n't happen.

Neville added:" I went to the dressing room, and I used to sit next to Denis]Irwin ] and Roy]Keane]. I believe I told Denis and Roy that Vieira had just thrown me in the hole because it was the first time this had ever happened to me. Naturally, we next walk away, and this happened]the popular tunnel incident].

" To give you the environment, Arsenal are in the hole when we get there and we walk along, I'm second in line, Roy walks down to the bottom, towards the arbitrators, and Patrick is doing his laces way up the hole. Roy's gone past him, therefore Patrick has started again in the hole, and then Roy comes up and that's when it all blows out."

Keane next adds his perspective to what transpires, to finish the book.

" I came up and I knew there were vibrations, "he said". I had to go again up the hole because I forgot my bracelet. When I came back out the second time, I knew that something had gone on, and I remember what you]Gary ] told me recently. I was very calm with it truly, I never used to get involved in things like that, in the pipe. I was agitated. I found it irksome that he pursued Gary because "you go after one, you go after all of us."

Manchester United would go on to record a 4- 2 win at Highbury, but travel the end of the season they were both trailing in the midst of Jose Mourinho's Chelsea, who won their second title for 50 times.
