Nevin, a former Chelsea midfielder, worries that the Blues hierarchy wo n't give the new manager enough time to make the transition a success.
If Enzo Maresca wants to play football like his, at least two years at Stamford Bridge, he will need to spend there. That's according to former Blue wing Pat Nevin, who starred for the London pub between 1983 and 1988.
Nevin is concerned that the new manager wo n't have the time needed to transform the squad into champions after taking over from Leicester City in the new season.
On behalf of NewBettingOffers, Nevin states," I think it will take two years for him to really bed his ideas in" with the number of young players in that squad and the number of youngsters that will inevitably arrive ( by the way, many of whom wo n't have played Premier League football before ). i. uk.
" That kind of club would take any trainer that much," said the coach. Will he get that, though? Who knows"?
After the Brazilian led an untrained and mixed squad to a sixth-place finish, Nevin was surprised that Chelsea owner Todd Boehly actually made the decision to fire the previous coach, Mauricio Pochettino.
" At the end of last year – a challenging season in terms of results – I was thinking,' OK, drop on, things are starting to look both right!' And then they pouch the coach", says Nevin. " But what we've got now is an experiment. A coach will not have any influence over the people he'll be working with second season. It's unusual".
