Jude Bellingham may play, according to Stuart Pearce. 10 and Gareth Southgate may need to switch the Phil Foden structure at Euro 2024 to get the best out of him.
Despite getting off to a winning stop at Euro 2024 kindness of Jude Bellingham’s first-half crossbar against Serbia, problem signs have been raised about Gareth Southgate’s group choice and in particular the position of Phil Foden.
The 24-year-old has become one of the most important players in the Manchester City squad, and he was outstanding last year, scoring 27 targets and providing 12 help in every category.
Foden struggled to control the game after being chosen to play in a left-of-a-front three for England despite excelling in a key role and playing on the appropriate for City. Some suggested that he should be moved to a more central location where he could govern play.
Stuart Pearce, the former England Under-21 manager, thinks Jude Bellingham may continue to fill the top 10 position in light of yet another excellent performance for his state.
Pearce, speaking to BoyleSports who offer the latest Euro 2024 betting, said: “Jude Bellingham has to be in range 10 over Phil Foden despite the latter’s unsatisfactory Serbia efficiency.
In fact, Bellingham and Foden have a better relationship when scoring goals in that northern place, which is why Foden does not, but Bellingham is also more effective at dropping deeper if he needs to tie things up.
Bellingham has a natural occurrence that helps arriving in the field to meet Harry Kane, whereas Foden prefers to play both higher up the pitch and be higher up the ball.
Many people would raise eyebrows and say that Bellingham would not look nice if Foden were to be the number 10, but Gareth Southgate would not have to deal with it. ”
Additionally, according to Price, Southgate may attempt to alter the structure as the game proceeds in an effort to maximize both Bellingham and Foden.
Foden has played strategically a lot this year, but he prefers to play wide. Any nation playing for the Euros would be incredibly proud to have two excellent young talents in their squad, he continued.
You'll just have to figure out a system that works for them, and often, as I discovered, things really work together when you attend a competition. Perhaps two range 10s will suffice. ”
